FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 26, 2026
Jason Guidone, candidate for Connecticut State Senate, released the following statement regarding the violent incident that occurred at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on April 25, 2026.
“I was deeply disturbed to learn of the violent incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C. The event was meant to be an evening celebrating the press and public service."
As a candidate for the Connecticut State Senate, I believe strongly that disagreements — whether in politics, policy, or everyday life — must be resolved through open dialogue, honest debate, and respect for our democratic institutions. Turning to violence only deepens divisions and weakens the fabric of our society.
I condemn this act of political violence in the strongest possible terms.
My thoughts are with everyone affected. My appreciation goes out to those who responded quickly to protect lives and keep attendees safe.
We cannot allow national division to distract us from solving these pressing local challenges.
Healing our fractured political climate — and delivering real relief to Connecticut families — begins with each of us committing to non-violent, civil engagement.
When elected to the Connecticut State Senate, I will champion respectful debate, protect our democratic processes, and work tirelessly to bring people together across political lines. I will fight for meaningful tax relief, lower energy costs, and practical solutions that make it possible for working families to thrive here in our state.
Connecticut deserves leaders who prioritize peace, safety, economic opportunity, and constructive solutions for the challenges we face every day.
I urge all Americans — regardless of party or ideology — to denounce violence unequivocally and recommit to the principles that make our republic strong.”
Jason Guidone
Connecticut State Senate Candidate D-19
